Basketball Game Preview: Willis Wildkats vs. Caney Creek Panthers

Willis is on a six-game streak of home losses, Caney Creek a seven-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Wednesday. The Willis Wildkats will host the Caney Creek Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Wednesday, Willis was beaten by Grand Oaks 75-21. While losing is never fun, the Wildkats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 974th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 127th).

Meanwhile, Caney Creek played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Grand Oaks, falling 69-31. The Panthers were down 48-23 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Caney Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Willis, their loss dropped their record down to 5-15.

Willis was able to grind out a solid win over Caney Creek when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 42-35. Will Willis repeat their success, or does Caney Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
