Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lincolnton

Lincolnton entered their tilt with West Caldwell on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the West Caldwell Warriors get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

Karson Cloninger made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Lincolnton is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise. Cloninger was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lincolnton let Devin Leonard and Treylen Bost run wild. Leonard scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Bost scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2. Bost has become a key player for Lincolnton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-3 otherwise. Yorye Urena was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Lincolnton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

The win got Lincolnton back to even at 4-4. As for West Caldwell, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincolnton will square off against East Burke at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Caldwell, they will face off against North Wilkes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. West Caldwell is facing North Wilkes at the right time seeing as North Wilkes is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
