Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Avery Johnson and Kaylie Harmon Lead Columbus North to Victory

Columbus North's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They strolled past the East Central Trojans with points to spare, taking the game 56-41. The Bull Dogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Columbus North was led to victory by Kaylie Harmon and Avery Johnson. Harmon went 9 of 12 en route to 24 points and five rebounds, while Johnson almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Harmon has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenna Conrad, who posted five points and three steals.

Despite the defeat, East Central saw an underclassman step up: freshman Natalie Stenger went 6 of 12 on her way to 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Audrina Dugan, who had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Columbus North's record is now 9-1. As for East Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Columbus North didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-59 win against Seymour on the 17th. As for East Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 39-32 loss against Decatur Central on the 17th.
