Mater Dei snaps St. Frances Academy's 26-game win streak, cements No. 1 ranking with 34-18 statement win over Panthers.

For the third straight year we saw a No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown and Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) left no doubt about the best team.

The Monarchs cruised to a 34-18 win over St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) behind four rushing touchdowns from 5-star quarterback Bryce Young. A week after breaking the school record throwing for 528 yards and seven touchdowns, the USC commit did it with his legs against one of the top defenses in the country to show his versatility.

The loss drops the Panthers three spots to No. 5 in this week's Power 25 high school football rankings, presented by Powerade.

IMG is at No. 3 and the Ascenders beat their second consecutive Top 25 opponent to improve to 3-0 on the year. IMG Academy held on for a 31-25 win over St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia) behind a strong performance from sophomore running back Kaytron Allen, who rushed for nearly 200 yards and a score.

Ja'Quinden Jackson and the Panthers got a huge 35-14 win against an out-of-state opponent beating St. John's (Washington, D.C.). It was a big-time statement for the Lone Star State and Jackson finished the night accounting for three touchdowns.
