Basketball Recap: Springer Takes a Loss

Springer suffered their biggest defeat since January 16th on Saturday. They took a blow against the Kiowa Cowboys, falling 81-44.

When it comes to explaining why Springer lost, don't look at Sammy Gardner. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-19 on his way to 20 points. Giovanni Guzman also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Springer has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points over those games. Kiowa pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Springer didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-38 loss against Boswell on the 21st. Kiowa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
