Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wheaton North). Everything went their way against the Hilliard Darby Panthers on Sunday as Wheaton North made off with a 15-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Falcons needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Madison Moore looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Reagan Crosthwaite was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Del Preto, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Wheaton North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilliard Darby only posted a batting average of .143.
Wheaton North's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Hilliard Darby, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Looking ahead, Wheaton North will challenge Copley at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Hilliard Darby, they will head out on the road to square off against Whitley County at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
