Volleyball Recap: Rio Rancho Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Santa Fe

Rio Rancho faced Santa Fe in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Rams came up short against the Demons, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rams have suffered against the Demons since March 9, 2021.

Santa Fe got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Payten Chavez out in front who had 11 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Chavez has posted over her last eight matchups. Glynis Chung was another key player, getting six digs and four aces.

Rio Rancho is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6. As for Santa Fe, the victory snapped their losing streak at four matches and leaves them with a 7-5 record.

Looking ahead, Rio Rancho will host Organ Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Santa Fe, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Capital at 6:00 p.m. on October 7.
