Softball Recap: Bellevue Tigers vs. Walton-Verona Bearcats

Bellevue had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 9-22 to make it five. They lost 10-2 to the Walton-Verona Bearcats. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bearcats from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

As for Walton-Verona, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

For Walton-Verona's part, Rylan Edwards spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Edwards has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sophie Lepping and Khloe Baer did most of the damage at the plate: Lepping went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two doubles, while Baer went 1-for-3 with one home run. Those three hits gave Lepping a new career-high. Avery Lepping was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Bellevue does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Walton-Verona, they will challenge Scott at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bearcats surely won't give up without a fight.
