Softball Recap: South Anchorage Beats Colony for Their Third Straight Victory

South Anchorage had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Colony on Thursday. The Wolverines never let the Knights get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered a 9-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Abigail Ellis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Niveah Heartwell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Anchorage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colony only managed one hit.

The win was the third in a row for South Anchorage, bringing their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Colony, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-6-1.

Coming up, South Anchorage will head out to face off against Dimond at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Colony, they will take on Service in a tournament on Friday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
