Football Game Preview: Piedmont Highlanders vs. Willits Wolverines + Official Tickets

The Piedmont Highlanders will face off against the Willits Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Piedmont is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past St. Patrick-St. Vincent 49-7. The victory was nothing new for the Highlanders as they're now sitting on five straight.

Xavier Henderson produced another solid performance rushing for 215 yards and two scores on only 15 carries. Those 215 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Panico, who picked up 51 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Piedmont was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 274 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Willits owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 27-0 win over Redwood Christian. The Wolverines pushed the score to 20-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles had little chance of recovering from.

Willits' win came from a few key players Piedmont will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Porter Garman, who rushed for 91 yards and one TD, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Isaac Silva was in the mix as well, providing Willits with two scores.

Willits didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Damian Reiter led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Willits' victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Piedmont, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
