Griffith Institute and Cleveland Hill are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Griffins will host the Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Griffith Institute has three straight wins, Cleveland Hill has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Griffith Institute had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Tonawanda on Wednesday. The Griffins were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Timberwolves. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Olivia Mesch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Grace Ricci was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Mia Rogers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Griffith Institute always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Cleveland Hill came up short against Alden on Wednesday, falling 16-2.
Griffith Institute pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cleveland Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Everything went Griffith Institute's way against Cleveland Hill in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Griffith Institute made off with a 17-3 victory.
