Raymond Central takes loss despite strong efforts from Reid Otto and Tavion Johnson

The Raymond Central Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 46-32 to David City. While losing is never fun, Raymond Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while David City is ranked 77th).

Tavion Johnson and Reid Otto certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Johnson scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Otto scored seven points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Johnson pulled down eight or more rebounds.

Leading David City to victory were Clayton Zavodny and Reese Svoboda. Zavodny scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Svoboda scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Svoboda pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brock Dubbs, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Raymond Central's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-12. As for David City, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Raymond Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Louisville at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Louisville is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for David City, they will be playing at home against Mead at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
