Baseball Recap: Placer Triumphs

Placer picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They came out on top against the River City Raiders by a score of 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hillmen.

Gavin Otis was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Devin Knight, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Placer hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River City struck out nine times.

Placer now has a winning record of 2-1. As for River City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Placer is taking a road trip to face off against Pleasant Grove at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for River City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Del Campo at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. River City's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Del Campo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
