4A Greater Neuse River recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Harnett Central, who took down 201st ranked Harnett Central, 23-17.
East Wake moved up to 221 from 256 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Greater Neuse River. The Warriors were able to make the jump by beating the Trojans 23-17.
Garner Magnet's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Vincent Jefferies threw for 50 yards and Armani Lanier had 26 yards receiving. On the ground Raevon Smith chipped in 86 yards. Nyheim Miller-hines helped Garner Magnet's passing attack out by catching one ball for 13 yards.
Garner Magnet's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jefferies has thrown for 959 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Lanier has 27 catches for 533 yards. Smith leads the league in rushing with 826 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Southeast Raleigh takes on Knightdale. The Bulldogs are currently in third, while the Knights are in second.
The Trojans extended the longest winning streak in 4A Greater Neuse River this week by beating Smithfield-Selma, 34-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
