Softball Recap: Asotin Comes Up Short

If Asotin was riding high fresh off their 18-9 takedown of Genesee on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers lost 24-1 to the Freeman Scotties on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Scotties: they've now lost six in a row.

Asotin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Freeman, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Asotin will venture away from home to square off against Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Broncos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Freeman, they will head out to take on Newport at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scotties' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 11 runs per game this season.
