Mesa Ridge was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Coronado Cougars 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Grizzlies have posted since October 3, 2024.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Mesa Ridge got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 21-25, 25-19, 19-25, 15-12.

Gracyen Bonds paced Mesa Ridge's offense, picking up 13 kills. Bonds got some help from Lyric Hodges and her 19 assists. Finally, Bonds was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Mesa Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season. As for Coronado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-14.
