Football Game Preview: Northwest Cabarrus Trojans vs. Concord Spiders + How To Watch

The Northwest Cabarrus Trojans will face off against the Concord Spiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northwest Cabarrus' favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four games.

Northwest Cabarrus is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Salisbury: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Trojans blew the Hornets out of the water with a 44-14 final score. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Hornets are ranked 213th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northwest Cabarrus can attribute much of their success to Titus Troy, who rushed for 139 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, and Hudson Irwin, who threw for 189 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes. Troy's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 114 rushing yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Northwest Cabarrus proved: they limited Salisbury to a paltry 3.5 yards per carry. Special teams also played a big role in the game for Northwest Cabarrus, adding 18 points to the final score. Owyn Mack delivered a perfect 4-4 game. One of the most memorable scores? An impressive kickoff return for a touchdown from Malachi Norris.

Meanwhile, Concord's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Carson by a score of 20-7.

Northwest Cabarrus' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.3 points over those games. As for Concord, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Northwest Cabarrus took their victory against Concord in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 28-7 score. In that matchup, the Trojans amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
