Baseball Recap: Mifflin Comes Up Short

Mifflin had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it four. They lost 14-4 to the East Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 back in April.

Azikiye Moore made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

As for East, the victory got them back to even at 4-4. Considering they have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On East's side, Dustin Straley made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Straley was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for East: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dominic Cross, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with seven stolen bases and four runs. East is 3-1 when Cross posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Glenn Simpson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Mifflin has already played their next game (against Centennial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for East, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 19-0 loss against Whetstone on the 6th.
