The Palisade Bulldogs will take on the Fossil Ridge SaberCats at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Palisade saw some tournament action on Saturday. They put the hurt on Palmer Ridge with a sharp 12-3 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Ascher Morby was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Morby was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other pitching news, Garrett Draper looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylon Larson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Hunter Howard, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Palisade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmer Ridge only posted an OBP of .312.
Meanwhile, Fossil Ridge unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Cherry Creek by a score of 11-10 on Saturday. The SaberCats haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Brek Benedict was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Owen Morgan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Goodrum, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.
Palisade's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Fossil Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
