Basketball Recap: Air Academy Comes Up Short

Air Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Vista Ridge Wolves. The Kadets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolves from their previous meeting back in February of 2022.

Despite the loss, Air Academy still got an impressive performance from Teagan Morse, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 14 points. Thanks to that strong game, Morse now owns an excellent 46.3% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Sam Brennan, who posted four points.

Even though they lost, Air Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January.

Vista Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zay Thurman out in front who made all 7 shots he took for 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Thurman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Ben Arnold was another key player, putting up 15 points and three steals.

Air Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Vista Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 8-15.

As of now, neither Air Academy nor Vista Ridge have any future games scheduled.
