Recap: Arabia Mountain Rams vs. Chamblee Bulldogs
The Arabia Mountain Rams came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They rang in the new year with a 71-64 win over Chamblee. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Julian Shanks was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Ward , who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Ramon McDaniel, Jr. and Ari Meyer certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. McDaniel, Jr. scored 19 points, while Meyer scored 12 points along with five steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Ryan Mccord was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Arabia Mountain's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Chamblee, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Arabia Mountain will be playing in front of their home fans against Decatur at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Decatur presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Arabia Mountain in Georgia (Decatur is ranked 30th, while Arabia Mountain is ranked 202nd). As for Chamblee, they will head out on the road to face off against M.L. King at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully M.L. King focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
