Basketball Recap: Shawn Giles' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lexington School for the Deaf over Ohio School for the Deaf

Lexington School for the Deaf lost against Ohio School for the Deaf back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Sunday. The Lexington School for the Deaf Blue Jays took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ohio School for the Deaf Spartans. The Blue Jays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lexington School for the Deaf lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Shawn Giles, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Steven Fang, who posted eight points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Lexington School for the Deaf smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Ohio School for the Deaf found their leader in sophomore Daniel Hager, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Thanks to that strong game, Hager now owns an excellent 45.6% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Charly'S Corea, who earned 13 points and four steals.

Lexington School for the Deaf's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Ohio School for the Deaf, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-14 record this season.

Lexington School for the Deaf does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ohio School for the Deaf, they have already played their next game, a 71-68 victory against Mohican Young Star Academy on the 26th.
