Softball Recap: Pontiac Takes a Loss

The Pontiac Indians came up short against the St. Charles North North Stars on Saturday and fell 5-1. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Elena Krause spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pontiac saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Hinz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Pontiac's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for St. Charles North, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pontiac will square off against Prairie Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Charles North, they will head out to square off against Wheaton-Warrenville South at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the North Stars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
