Football Game Preview: Tonkawa Buccaneers vs. Haskell Haymakers + Official Tickets

Two dominant signal callers in Cason Johnson and Pj Faul are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Tonkawa Buccaneers will be playing at home against the Haskell Haymakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tonkawa is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

On Friday, Tonkawa was fully in charge, breezing past Nowata 62-14. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won seven contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Westyn Freeman went supernova, rushing for 92 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making two total tackles and defending three passes in addition to snagging two interceptions.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tonkawa was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 364 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Johnson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Haskell entered their game against Pocola on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Haymakers were beaten by the Indians 64-6. Having soared to a lofty 46 points in the game before, the Haymakers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Haskell's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Tonkawa, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Tonkawa has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Haskell struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 226.8 rushing yards.
