New Bern is a perfect 6-0 against Northside - Jacksonville since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The New Bern Bears will take on the Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (New Bern has seven straight victories, Northside - Jacksonville has 23 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While New Bern's win against East Carteret wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. New Bern skirted past East Carteret 2-0. The two-run effort marked the Bears' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Not much got past Anna Champey, who gave up just four hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep East Carteret off the board. What's more, Champey gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, New Bern's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Makenzie Richardson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Northside - Jacksonville fell victim to South Central and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 33-0 to the Falcons.

New Bern pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northside - Jacksonville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

New Bern took their victory against Northside - Jacksonville when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3. Does New Bern have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northside - Jacksonville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
