Recap: Pueblo Central Wildcats vs. Tournament Opponent
The Pueblo Central Wildcats can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Tournament Opponent by a score of 52-40. The victory was just what Pueblo Central needed coming off of a 66-35 defeat in their prior match.
Pueblo Central had a senior duo take command as Xavier Davis dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds and Luke Beltran scored 16 points along with four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least 25% of Pueblo Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayvon Evans, who scored three points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Pueblo Central's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Tournament Opponent, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 15 of their last 17 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 40-168 record this season.
Pueblo Central will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Eagle Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Tournament Opponent won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lighthouse Private Christian Academy at 8:30 a.m. on December 23rd. Lighthouse Private Christian Academy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
