Baseball Game Preview: Neumann Regional Academy Golden Knights vs. Troy Trojans

The Neumann Regional Academy Golden Knights will face off against the Troy Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Neumann Regional Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bucktail with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Golden Knights have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gino Birch was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Fagnano, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Neumann Regional Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bucktail only posted an OBP of .318.

Meanwhile, Troy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Mansfield by a score of 15-14. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (13), the Trojans still had to take the loss.

Neumann Regional Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Troy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
