Baseball Game Preview: Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles vs. Southwest Raiders

For the second straight game, Diamond Hill-Jarvis will face off against Southwest. The Eagles will head out to square off against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over Southwest.

GIOVANNY BASURTO made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Diamond Hill-Jarvis is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-10-1 otherwise. BASURTO was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, DIEGO BASURTO was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was LEONARDO CORDOVA, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-11-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Southwest, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-14 record.
