Basketball Recap: Courtney Van Lente Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Coloma

Watervliet won the last time they faced Coloma and things went their way on Friday too. The Watervliet Panthers enjoyed a cozy 44-26 victory over the Coloma Comets. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Watervliet's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Courtney Van Lente, who posted 15 points and seven boards. Those 15 points gave Van Lente a new career-high. Moeko Crago was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Watervliet smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive matchups.

Watervliet's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Coloma, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Coming up, Watervliet will head out on the road to square off against Our Lady of the Lake Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Our Lady of the Lake Catholic will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Watervliet surely won't give up without a fight. As for Coloma, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Schoolcraft at 7:00 p.m.
