Baseball Recap: Benton Takes a Loss

Benton fell victim to Mt. Vernon and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 10-0 to the Rams. The Rangers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rams from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Benton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.

Benton dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Mt. Vernon, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Coming up, Benton is taking a road trip to face off against Hamilton County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against DuQuoin at 4:30 p.m. DuQuoin's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Mt. Vernon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
