Union has gone a perfect 3-0 against Richfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will take on the Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. Union will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Union is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Providence Hall get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Cougars have won 13 matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Mollee Rasmussen and Payzlei Parrish did most of the damage at the plate: Rasmussen went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Parrish went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI Parrish has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kallie Duncan, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Richfield faced off against Ogden on Saturday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 8-3.
Jerzy Moon was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Mataiya Murray was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Union's win bumped their record up to 21-6. As for Richfield, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.
Richfield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Union has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Richfield, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Union's sizable advantage in that area, the Wildcats will need to find a way to close that gap.
Union came out on top in a nail-biter against Richfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 10-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
