Basketball Recap: Quince Orchard Takes a Loss

Quince Orchard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to the Walter Johnson Wildcats at home by a 59-45 margin. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly 14 points.

When it comes to explaining why Quince Orchard lost, don't look at Evelyn Steele. Despite the final result, she posted four points along with 11 blocks and seven boards. Steele is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ayanna Anspach, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Walter Johnson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mira Mann, who went 8-for-15 on her way to 17 points and six boards. That's the most points Mann has posted since back in January of 2024. Norah Youssef was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Quince Orchard's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Walter Johnson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars duke it out with the Jaguars at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Walter Johnson, they will challenge Churchill at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Walter Johnson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.
