Baseball Game Preview: George County Rebels vs. Hancock Hawks

For the second straight game, George County will face off against Hancock. The Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. George County is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Last Tuesday, George County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over Hancock.

Canyon Reeves made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Davis, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

George County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Hancock, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-13.

George County's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Rebels have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game.
