Basketball Game Preview: Smithville Smithies vs. Danville Blue Devils

The Smithville Smithies will challenge the Danville Blue Devils at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Smithville's favor as the team sits on 13 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Danville has been banged up by 11 consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

On Thursday, Smithville didn't have too much trouble with Waynedale as they won 48-34. Given the Smithies' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Golden Bears are ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Danville can bid farewell to their 19-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 68-59 win over Patriot Prep Academy. The Blue Devils' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Smithville's victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Danville, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-18.

Smithville came up short against Danville in their previous meeting back in November of 2014, falling 55-48. Can Smithville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
