Basketball Recap: North Providence Victorious

North Providence entered their tilt with Mt. Pleasant on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They slipped by the Mt. Pleasant Kilties 51-50. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 55-28 on January 6th.

Catherine Nicolo had a dynamite game for North Providence, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Elyse Brassard was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to 13 boards and three blocks.

North Providence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

North Providence's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

North Providence will head out to take on Providence Country Day at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. North Providence is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cumberland at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cumberland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
