Baseball Recap: Middleton Takes Down Ranked Mountain View

Middleton faced Mountain View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Vikings skirted past the Mavericks 6-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 back in March.

Ian Lenius tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Middleton saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Collins, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases Collins has posted since back in March of 2024.

Middleton pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Middleton will welcome Owyhee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Storm will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mountain View, they will be playing at home against Payson at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
