Softball Recap: San Marin Sets Scoring Season-High Against Redwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Marin). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Redwood Giants a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Taylor Testa was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Savannah Reynolds was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Avery Bishop, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

San Marin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Redwood only posted a batting average of .188.

San Marin's record is now 5-3. As for Redwood, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. San Marin is set to take on their familiar foe Archie Williams at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (San Marin 2.1, Archie Williams 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Redwood will face off against rival Novato at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
