Basketball Recap: Highlands Christian Piles Up the Points Against Sports Leadership & Management

Highlands Christian was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Sports Leadership & Management on Thursday. The Highlands Christian Knights took their contest with ease, bagging a 95-58 win over the Sports Leadership & Management Giants. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Highlands Christian was led to victory by Angel Scomparin and Aydin Crawford. Scomparin went 7 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and three steals, while Crawford dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Scomparin's evening made it 21 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Brady Dorvil was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

Highlands Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Sports Leadership & Management saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dennis Pierre Jr. went 14 for 32 on his way to 31 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Pierre Jr. a new career-high in rebounds (four). Another player making a difference was Jamar James Jr., who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Highlands Christian's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Highlands Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 89-68 win against Franklin Academy on the 24th. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 88-40 loss against Pine Crest on the 27th.
