Basketball Recap: Washington Gets the Win

Washington's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Independence Patriots out 38-36. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Washington found their leader in freshman Alicia Mendez, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Zoey Cook, who scored eight points.

Washington has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 3-7 record this season. As for Independence, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Washington will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Central at 7:00 p.m. As for Independence, they will head out to square off against La Joya Community at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th.
