Softball Game Preview: Pamlico County Hurricanes vs. Southside Seahawks

Pamlico County has gone a perfect 10-0 against Southside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Pamlico County will look to defend their home field against Southside at 6:00 p.m. Pamlico County will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

If Pamlico County beats Southside with 11 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Pamlico County beat Northside - Pinetown on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-6.

Pamlico County let Hailey Shamblin and Payton Force run wild. Shamblin scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Force went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Force a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyliah Barber, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Pamlico County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, neither Southside nor John Paul II Catholic could gain the upper hand on Monday so the two teams had to settle for a 9-9 draw.

Pamlico County pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Southside's draw gives them a new season record of 5-5-1.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pamlico County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .493. However, it's not like Southside struggles in that department as they've averaged .487. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Pamlico County took their win against Southside in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0. Will Pamlico County repeat their success, or does Southside has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
