Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Carmel vs. St. Thomas More

The Mt. Carmel Cubs will head out on the road to face off against the St. Thomas More Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Mt. Carmel is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Academy of the Sacred Heart, who was ranked 17th at the time (Mt. Carmel was ranked seventh). Mt. Carmel fell just short of Academy of the Sacred Heart by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The Cubs have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Meanwhile, St. Thomas More kept a clean sheet against Comeaux on Monday. They were the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over the Spartans. That looming 8-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

St. Thomas More pushed their record up to 11-2-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five matches. As for Mt. Carmel, their loss dropped their record down to 16-3-2.

Mt. Carmel might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from St. Thomas More in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Mt. Carmel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
