Softball Recap: Buffalo Comes Up Short

Buffalo extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-15 in the process. They lost 12-2 to the Edina Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in April.

Buffalo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Haugen, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Edina, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Edina's side, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Cox, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Cox has posted since back in April. Veda Laabs also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buffalo will challenge St. Michael-Albertville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Edina, they will square off against Eden Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hornets 3.3, the Eagles 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
