Football Game Preview: Ord Chanticleers vs. Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals

The Ord Chanticleers will face off against the Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.

Last Thursday, Ord strolled past Boone Central with points to spare, taking the game 35-19.

The critical scores for Ord came from Beau Wells, Jordan Williams, Haydin Nelson, Landon Critel, and Grey Geiser.

Ord was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 198 rushing yards in eight consecutive matchups.

Doniphan-Trumbull hadn't beaten Wood River on the road since August 24, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Cardinals blew past the Eagles 30-6. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won five contests by 24 points or more so far this season.

Doniphan-Trumbull's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Ord, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Everything came up roses for Ord against Doniphan-Trumbull in their previous meeting back in September of 2021, as the team secured a 63-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chanticleers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
