Baseball Recap: Central York Wins Going Away Against South Western

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northeastern, Central York was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the South Western Mustangs. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season so far.

Wyatt Mahler made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Central York's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Mahler was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Central York got a massive performance out of Kam Holtzapple, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The Panthers are 2-1 when Holtzapple posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jacob Laughman, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Central York was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Central York's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for South Western, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Central York Panthers challenge Mechanicsburg Wildcats at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for South Western, they will take on Hershey at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
