Football Recap: Stephenville Starts Season with Victory Against Midlothian Heritage + How To Watch

Stephenville had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars 28-7 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.

The critical scores for Stephenville came from Caden Monk, Brighton DeVivo, Zyler McClendon, and Jayden Lujan.

Stephenville didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Midlothian Heritage to a completion percentage of just 30%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Jackson Richmond and Briar Floyd, who each logged one passes deflected. Stephenville wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 63.6%.

Stephenville's defense didn't let Dax Montelongo., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Hudson Butchee was especially locked on to Midlothian Heritage's QB and sacked him twice. Butchee is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last 15 games he's played dating back to last season.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Montelongo, who threw for 109 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 58 yards.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stephenville will welcome Everman at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Midlothian Heritage, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Argyle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
