Basketball Recap: Omaha Central Eagles vs. Fremont Tigers

Winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 25% better than the opposition, a fact the Omaha Central Eagles proved on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-53 win over Fremont. Given Omaha Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Tigers are ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Omaha Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but DaShawn Prince led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Prince scored 15 or more points. Daleron Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Fremont lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aiden Vacha, who scored ten points along with two steals. Vacha is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Gunter, who scored nine points.

Omaha Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Fremont, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10.

Omaha Central will take on the Thunderbirds at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Fremont, they will head out on the road to challenge the Islanders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
