Flag Football Recap: Basha Takes a Loss

Basha extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Red Mountain Mountain Lions, falling 30-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 34-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Even if they lost, Basha's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Aaliyah Bribiescas with two. Bribiescas is crushing it when it comes to sacks: she's posted at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

As for Red Mountain, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona flag football rankings (they are ranked second, while Basha is ranked 45th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Korey Roberts was nothing short of spectacular: she rushed for 66 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Cadence McCanless did her part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 97 receiving yards.

Basha has already played their next contest, a 25-0 victory against Mesa on the 25th. As for Red Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 23-0 win against Perry on the 24th.
