Football Recap: Greenfield-Central Comes Up Short

Greenfield-Central came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through a 43-14 loss at the hands of the Pendleton Heights Arabians. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-0.

Despite the defeat, Greenfield-Central saw an underclassman step up: freshman Draven Nolting rushed for 82 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 37 yards and one TD.

Brandt Gray had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 78 yards and three scores on only ten carries, while also throwing for 137 yards on 12 of 18 attempts for Pendleton Heights. Those 78 rushing yards gave Gray a new career-high. Wyatt Elijah got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Greenfield-Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Pendleton Heights, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Greenfield-Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 28-27 victory against Shelbyville on the 19th. As for Pendleton Heights, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 42-6 defeat against New Palestine on the 19th.
