Baseball Recap: Junipero Serra Drops Highest Score of Season Against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Junipero Serra). They were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish on Saturday. With that victory, the Padres brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Kelley Crawford looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Junipero Serra got a massive performance out of Aaron Minton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Minton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Harrison, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Junipero Serra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .608. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Junipero Serra's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, they now have a losing record of 12-13.
