Basketball Recap: Northwest Classen Takes a Loss

Northwest Classen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They took a blow against the Sapulpa Chieftains, falling 72-16. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while the Chieftains are ranked 78th).

Sapulpa was led to victory by Riki Mcquarters and Lou Chaney. Mcquarters made all 7 shots she took racking up 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals, while Chaney went 8-for-11 on her way to 19 points. Mcquarters is becoming a predictor of Sapulpa's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 4-10 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kailynne Disaya Parker, who posted seven points along with five assists and four steals.

Northwest Classen's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Sapulpa, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-10.

Northwest Classen has already played their next game, a 65-25 loss against Bartlesville on the 11th. Sapulpa has also already played their next contest (against Enid), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
